Position Overview

As an Aquatic Safety Officer, you will play a crucial role in safeguarding the well-being of all facility users by proactively preventing and effectively responding to emergencies.
Key Responsibilities

  • Maintain regular attendance to fulfill the responsibilities of this role.
  • Identify and respond to emergencies promptly and efficiently.
  • Uphold all policies, rules, and regulations pertaining to the aquatic facility.
  • Participate in ongoing training sessions and in-service education.
  • Supervise the use of aquatic facilities to ensure safety and compliance.
  • Assist with various tasks such as answering inquiries, supporting special events, and maintaining cleanliness and safety standards.
  • Address public inquiries regarding aquatic programs both in person and via phone.
  • Keep accurate records for various aquatic programs.
  • Support swimming pool maintenance and perform water quality tests.
  • Attend scheduled staff meetings and training sessions.
  • Follow the assigned work schedule and contribute to the CORE mission and philosophy.
  • Report any suspicious or inappropriate behavior immediately.
  • May participate in various employee committees as assigned.

Qualifications

Education and Experience:
High school graduation or equivalent preferred.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
  1. Dependability is essential.
  2. Availability for flexible hours, including evenings and weekends, is required.
  3. Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment as well as independently with minimal supervision.
  4. Familiarity with hand tools for pool operations, maintenance, and water testing, as well as first aid and life safety equipment.
  5. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with colleagues, supervisors, other agencies, participants, instructors, and the public.
  6. Effective oral and written communication skills; ability to understand and provide oral instructions.
  7. Capability to enforce safety and health regulations related to aquatic programs.
  8. Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment.
  9. Competence in handling stressful and demanding situations with the public.
  10. Willingness to learn additional job responsibilities.
Licensing and Certifications:
  • Preferred: Valid state-issued driver's license.
  • Must obtain certification in American Red Cross Lifeguard training and First Aid/CPR by the first day of employment.
Supervision:
Work under the general supervision of the Pool Manager, CORE Aquatics/Learn to Swim Coordinator, and CORE Facility Director.
