Description
As an Aquatic Safety Officer, you will play a crucial role in safeguarding the well-being of facility visitors by proactively preventing and addressing emergencies.
Key Responsibilities
- Maintain regular attendance to fulfill the responsibilities of this role.
- Effectively recognize and respond to emergencies.
- Enforce all policies, rules, and regulations pertaining to the aquatic facility.
- Participate in ongoing training sessions.
- Monitor the usage of aquatic facilities.
- Assist with various tasks, including answering inquiries, supporting special events, and upholding cleanliness and safety standards.
- Respond to public inquiries regarding aquatic programs, both in person and via phone, while maintaining accurate records.
- Contribute to the upkeep of the swimming pool.
- Conduct water quality tests.
- Attend scheduled staff meetings and training sessions.
- Adhere to the assigned work schedule and embody the CORE mission and philosophy. Report any suspicious or inappropriate behavior immediately.
- May participate in various employee committees as required.

Minimum Qualifications
Education and Experience:
High school graduation or equivalent preferred.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Dependability is essential.
- Availability for flexible hours, including evenings and weekends.
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a team with minimal supervision.
- Proficiency in using hand tools for pool maintenance and water testing equipment, as well as first aid and life safety gear.
- Ability to establish effective working relationships with staff, supervisors, and the public.
- Effective oral and written communication skills; ability to understand and follow verbal instructions.
- Capability to enforce safety and health regulations in an aquatic setting.
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment.
- Competence in managing stressful situations.
- Willingness to learn additional responsibilities.
- Preferred: Valid state-issued driver's license.
- Must obtain certification in American Red Cross Lifeguard training and First Aid/CPR by the start of employment.
Work under the general supervision of the Pool Manager and CORE Facility Director.
Physical Demands & Work Environment
Physical Demands:
The physical requirements for this position include frequent use of hands for handling controls, walking, jogging, balancing, stooping, kneeling, and occasionally lifting up to 25 pounds. Vision requirements include close, distance, color, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
Work Environment:
Employees may work in outdoor weather conditions and may be exposed to wet or humid environments and chemicals.
