Lifeguard - Aquatic Facility Safety Specialist

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Lifeguard to join our team at the City of Hobbs, NM. As a Lifeguard, you will be responsible for ensuring the safety of our facility patrons by preventing and responding to emergencies.
Key Responsibilities- Regular attendance is required to perform the duties of this position.
- Recognize and respond effectively to all emergencies.
- Enforce all aquatic facility policies, rules, and regulations.
- Attend and participate in in-service training.
- Monitor the use of the aquatic facilities.
- Perform various miscellaneous duties such as answering phone calls, assisting with special events, and maintaining sanitary and safety standards in and around aquatic facilities.
- Respond to public inquiries about aquatic programs made in person and by telephone.
- Maintain related records for various aquatic programs.
- Assist in the maintenance of the swimming pool.
- Test water samples.
- Attend staff meetings and trainings as scheduled.
- Adhere to assigned work schedule and implement the City of Hobbs, NM mission and philosophy.
- Immediately report suspicious or inappropriate behaviors or abuse.
- May serve on various employee committees, as required and assigned.
- Graduation from high school or high school equivalency (HSE) preferred.
- Dependable and available to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends.
- Ability to work in a team atmosphere as well as independently and perform assigned duties with minimal supervision.
- Ability to operate various hand tools used for pool operation and maintenance and pool water testing equipment, first aid, and life safety equipment.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees, supervisors, other agencies, participants, instructors, and the general public.
- Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing; ability to give and understand oral instructions.
- Ability to effectively enforce safety and health regulations relating to an aquatics program.
- Must be able to function effectively in a fast-paced environment.
- Must be able to deal with people under stressful and demanding situations.
- Ability and willingness to learn additional job duties.
- Valid state-issued driver's license preferred.
- Ability to obtain certification in American Red Cross Lifeguard training and First Aid/CPR by the first day of employment.
