Senior Compliance Executive

As a pivotal figure within GE Renewable Energy Power and Aviation, this role encompasses the provision of strategic leadership and oversight to ensure that all business operations align with both internal policies and external regulatory frameworks. The incumbent will establish robust mechanisms to guarantee compliance with pertinent laws and regulations while fostering adherence to corporate standards and practices. This position requires a keen interpretation of both internal and external business challenges, with a focus on recommending optimal practices to enhance products, processes, or services. A comprehensive understanding of industry trends will be essential to inform the decision-making process.
Key Responsibilities
Primary Duties
- Evaluate, interpret, and conduct business impact assessments regarding evolving U.S. and international sanctions, including those enacted under the U.S. Export Administration Regulations (EAR) and the U.S. Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC).
- Engage with internal stakeholders to uphold a premier sanctions compliance program, implementing risk-based compliance controls and process improvements.
- Supervise the management of sanctions compliance controls, which includes reviewing complex high-risk transactions and overseeing the administration of screening tools and related company systems.
- Lead a cross-functional internal committee dedicated to identifying sanctions risks and collaborating with senior leadership to formulate sanctions response strategies that mitigate business impacts while ensuring compliance.
- Establish key performance indicators to facilitate the comprehensive implementation of sanctions compliance controls across all business units.
- Maintain and update sanctions compliance policies, procedures, and guidance, while providing relevant training to applicable stakeholders.
- Facilitate engagement and communication with government officials as necessary.
- Assess International Trade Compliance (ITC) issues during due diligence and integration processes for strategic dispositions, mergers, and acquisitions.
- Manage special projects and support ongoing initiatives aimed at enhancing the compliance program.
- Depending on experience, this role may oversee direct reports responsible for the daily management of sanctions compliance activities.
- Bachelor's Degree from an accredited institution.
- A minimum of 12 years of professional experience, including at least 8 years in International Trade Compliance.
- Corporate experience in applying U.S. and international export control and sanctions regulations to business operations.
- Willingness to travel domestically and internationally approximately 10% of the time.
- Adaptability and a willingness to evolve within a growing organization.
- Strong commitment to compliance and ethical standards.
- Ability to collaborate effectively across all levels of the organization.
- Self-motivated individual capable of building effective networks with internal and external stakeholders.
- Excellent time management, prioritization, analytical, and organizational skills, with a proven ability to meet deadlines and achieve desired outcomes.
- Exceptional customer relationship management, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Capable of managing multiple initiatives, both collaboratively and independently.
- Experience in international business, contracts, supply chain, engineering, or a related field.
The compensation for this position is competitive and commensurate with experience. In addition to base salary, the role is eligible for an annual discretionary bonus based on performance metrics.
