The Senior Compliance Specialist in Trade Operations is responsible for overseeing import and export compliance activities, ensuring adherence to corporate policies and international regulations. This role requires collaboration across various departments and international teams, serving as a mentor to junior compliance staff. The position reports directly to the Trade Compliance Supervisor.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Develop and implement performance metrics for logistics partners and internal stakeholders.
2. Prepare and submit necessary documentation for export licenses, conduct restricted party screenings, and manage compliance submissions to government entities.
3. Ensure accurate classification of goods under the Harmonized Tariff System (HTS) and maintain comprehensive records.
4. Oversee the qualification processes for Free Trade Agreements and ensure compliance with related documentation.
5. Utilize regulatory expertise to ascertain the country of origin for materials and recommend appropriate labeling.
6. Draft and submit protests to relevant authorities regarding import entries.
7. Conduct research on product eligibility for various trade programs and compliance with international regulations.
8. Collaborate with international teams to align trade compliance procedures.
9. Assist in formulating and updating trade compliance policies and conducting management reviews.
10. Facilitate training sessions for new and existing employees on compliance practices.
11. Perform internal audits of trade classifications and compliance programs, providing actionable insights and recommendations.
12. Address inquiries and support requests in a timely manner, ensuring thorough documentation.
13. Mentor and develop team members to enhance their skills and knowledge in trade compliance.
14. Stay informed on industry trends and participate in relevant compliance associations and conferences.
Qualifications:
- 5-7 years of relevant experience in trade compliance.
- Bachelor's degree in Business or Supply Chain Management preferred.
- Equivalent experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.
- Willingness to travel occasionally for business purposes.
Preferred Skills:
- Possession of a US Customs Broker License is advantageous.
- Strong interpersonal, leadership, and organizational skills.
- Experience in delivering presentations and educational sessions.
- Ability to work effectively in cross-functional and multinational teams.
Work Authorization:
