Job SummaryMt. Wachusett Community College is seeking a highly skilled Senior Accountant to join our team. As a key member of our accounting department, you will be responsible for performing a variety of activities to support our financial systems.
Key Responsibilities- Reconcile and manage ISAs with DCAM and the Massachusetts Comptroller's Office.
- Reconcile and make recommendations on funding held in state appropriations, cash flow strategies, and maintain Banner fund reconciliations.
- Perform bank reconciliations and complex fund analysis.
- Conduct reconciliations, procedural compliance research, and communications with college staff and administration.
- Ensure timely and accurate reporting of cash activities in accordance with policies and procedures.
- Maintain various accounting records and reporting schedules.
- Conduct reconciliations to ensure compliance.
- Work with administration to review and support process improvements and automation.
- Minimum of four years of full-time, or equivalent part-time, professional experience in accounting or auditing, with at least two years in a supervisory, administrative, or managerial capacity.
- Associate's degree in accounting, business administration, or business management may be substituted for a maximum of one year of experience.
- Bachelor's degree in accounting, business administration, or business management may be substituted for a maximum of two years of experience.
- Graduate degree in accounting, business administration, or business management may be substituted for a maximum of two years of experience and one year of supervisory experience.
- General Ledger experience.
- Close attention to detail, high level of accuracy, excellent time management skills.
- Experience with fund accounting.
- Higher education sector experience.
- Professional experience working in an accounting-related field.
- Experience with Commonwealth of Massachusetts accounting systems (MMARS/CIW/HRCMS, etc.).
The successful candidate will be required to work in a fast-paced environment and demonstrate strong analytical and problem-solving skills. The ability to work independently and as part of a team is essential.
