Illumination Foundation (IF) is a dynamic non-profit organization committed to breaking the cycle of homelessness through specialized, interdisciplinary services in our recuperative care centers, emergency shelters, housing services, and programs for children and families. With over 13 facilities and more than 22 micro-communities across Orange County, Los Angeles County, and the Inland Empire, we are making a difference.

Position Summary

The Housing Case Manager role is a community-focused, high-engagement position that involves providing direct transitional care to a moderately sized caseload of clients throughout our service area. Candidates must be adaptable, resourceful, personable, collaborative, and possess strong critical thinking abilities. This position requires both remote and in-person interactions as needed, emphasizing the delivery of exceptional transitional care to homeless and other at-risk populations.

Compensation

The hourly wage for this role is $25.00, contingent upon experience.

Key Responsibilities

  • Identify and cultivate housing resources for various programs within the organization.
  • Establish and maintain relationships with property managers and landlords to enhance housing availability.
  • Perform housing inspections to ensure compliance with HUD Housing Habitability standards.
  • Conduct utility inspections and generate necessary reports.
  • Execute rent reasonableness assessments in accordance with HUD guidelines.
  • Verify client rent payments on a monthly basis.
  • Assist case managers and clients with housing applications, searches, and connections.
  • Demonstrate ethical behavior that reflects the core values of integrity, transparency, accountability, respect, and responsibility.
  • Exhibit openness, honesty, and accountability to colleagues, volunteers, donors, and all stakeholders.
  • Accept personal responsibility for the performance of assigned duties.
  • Maintain confidentiality regarding work-related information and materials.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Valid California Driver's License and eligibility for company vehicle insurance.
  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Strong customer and client relations skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, Teams, etc.).
  • Knowledge of HUD Housing inspections and reporting.
  • Familiarity with the housing rental market and property management practices.
