Purpose of Position:

The Community Engagement Coordinator plays a vital role within a vibrant team, tasked with the recruitment and training of new volunteers and academic interns. This position involves maintaining a comprehensive database of volunteer information and skills, aligning volunteers with opportunities that match their abilities, ensuring ongoing communication with volunteers and academic interns, and effectively promoting the Girls Inc. mission to the broader community. The Coordinator will serve as a representative of the Volunteer Services Department, working collaboratively with program and development teams to fulfill the organization's mission and objectives.

Duties & Responsibilities:

Recruitment and Training of Volunteers/Academic Interns (60% of time)

· Develop and implement a thorough year-round strategy for recruiting volunteers and academic interns to support all Girls Inc. programs and organizational needs.

· Oversee the selection, interviewing, and screening processes for all volunteer and academic internship candidates.

· Facilitate both virtual and in-person training sessions throughout the year for all volunteers and academic interns.

· Provide supervision, conduct site visits, and evaluate the performance of all volunteers and academic interns.

· Monitor and track feedback from new and active volunteers/academic interns to address any issues or concerns and ensure satisfaction.

· Engage with community organizations, corporate partners, and prospective collaborators to maintain a positive community presence.

· Design and manage a comprehensive recognition program to appreciate the contributions of volunteers and academic interns.

Administrative, Database & Communication Tasks (40% of time)

· Act as a liaison between administration, staff, and volunteers/academic interns.

· Collaborate with development staff and program departments to identify the needs for diverse volunteer and academic internship placements.

· Utilize volunteer management software to maintain accurate records of volunteers and academic interns, ensuring all necessary documentation, including background checks, is current.

· Employ online platforms for conducting background screenings for all volunteers and academic interns.

· Create and format various documents, including reports, charts, flyers, presentations, and graphics, in line with the organization's branding guidelines.

· Promote volunteer opportunities through various channels, including the volunteer management system, social media, public speaking engagements, and community outreach events.

· Ensure timely submission of all departmental reports, evaluations, and annual volunteer data.

· Assist with agency-wide meetings, social events, and special initiatives focused on mentorship, college readiness, workforce development, and community service projects.

Qualifications:

· Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience.

· At least two years of experience in managing volunteers or academic interns or in community outreach.

· Direct experience working with both adults and youth.

· Strong oral and written communication skills, including public speaking capabilities.

· Excellent organizational, time management, critical thinking, and interpersonal skills.

· Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and database management software.

· A collaborative, team-oriented work style with the ability to work independently.

· Attention to detail and accuracy.

· A solid understanding of the diverse stakeholders within the community.

· Proven success in partnering with community organizations and corporate entities.

· Initiative in identifying needs and developing effective solutions.

· Commitment to maintaining high professional ethical standards in a diverse work environment.

· Must pass a background check, possess reliable transportation with insurance, and hold a valid driver's license.

Work Environment:

This position is situated in a professional office setting. The role typically involves the use of standard office equipment such as computers, telephones, photocopiers, filing cabinets, and fax machines.

Compensation and Benefits:

· Competitive salary based on qualifications and experience.

· Salary range of $23-$26/hour.
