Job Overview

POSITION SUMMARY:

The Bilingual Caseworker at Project Open Hand plays a vital role in delivering compassionate meal services. This position involves engaging with clients, evaluating their eligibility for various programs, and conducting intake assessments for both new and returning clients. Responsibilities include interacting with clients in our service center, managing client inquiries, and performing essential administrative duties. The role requires close collaboration with the Client Services Department to effectively serve clients and make informed decisions regarding service delivery.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor's degree in a Human Services-related discipline
  • Proficient in computer applications (MS Office/Outlook)
  • Ability to maintain professional boundaries in a social service environment
  • Bilingual proficiency in Cantonese

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Experience in Mental Health or Social Work
  • Background in assisting clients with diverse diagnoses (e.g., substance abuse, mental health issues, critical illnesses)

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Manage applications for services
  • Conduct intake and recertification processes for clients
  • Verify client eligibility by liaising with service providers and gathering necessary documentation
  • Maintain an organized client database, including scheduling meal services and documenting client interactions
  • Assess client needs and provide appropriate referrals
  • Assist clients who do not qualify for services by connecting them with external community resources
  • Facilitate program orientation for clients to help them navigate our services
  • Address client feedback and concerns constructively; resolve complaints effectively
  • Provide individual follow-up support to clients regarding behavioral challenges
  • Act as a liaison between clients and staff/volunteers/other departments
  • Represent Project Open Hand in various capacities
  • Perform additional duties as required
