Job Overview

POSITION SUMMARY:

The Bilingual Caseworker at Project Open Hand plays a vital role in delivering compassionate meal services by engaging with clients, evaluating their eligibility for various programs, and conducting initial assessments for both new and returning clients. This position involves direct interaction with clients in our service center, responding to inquiries, and performing essential administrative duties. The Caseworker collaborates closely with the Client Services Department to ensure effective service delivery and informed decision-making regarding client assistance.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor's degree in a Human Services-related discipline
  • Proficient in computer applications (MS Office/Outlook)
  • Proven ability to maintain professional boundaries in a social service environment
  • Bilingual proficiency in Cantonese

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Experience in Mental Health or Social Work
  • Background in assisting clients with diverse diagnoses (e.g., substance abuse, mental health issues, critical illnesses)

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Process applications for client services
  • Conduct intake assessments and recertifications for clients
  • Verify client eligibility by liaising with service providers and gathering necessary documentation
  • Maintain an organized client database, including scheduling meal services and documenting client interactions
  • Assess client needs and provide appropriate referrals
  • Assist clients who do not qualify for services by connecting them with external community resources
  • Facilitate program orientation for clients to help them navigate our services
  • Address client feedback and concerns constructively, resolving complaints effectively
  • Provide individualized follow-up support for clients facing behavioral challenges
  • Act as a liaison between clients and staff/volunteers/other departments
  • Represent Project Open Hand in various capacities
  • Perform additional duties as required
