Domestic Violence Emergency Response Team (DVERT)
POSITION SUMMARY
The CORA Crisis Response Advocate plays a crucial role in providing immediate assistance to individuals affected by domestic violence. This position is part of the Domestic Violence Emergency Response Team (DVERT), which collaborates closely with local law enforcement agencies to ensure victims receive timely support and resources.
WORK SCHEDULE
This is a full-time, non-exempt position that requires flexibility in scheduling, including weekday and weekend shifts, as well as evening hours.
REPORTING STRUCTURE
The Crisis Response Advocate will report directly to the Crisis Support Services Manager.
ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Respond promptly to law enforcement requests for on-scene crisis intervention, conducting thorough needs assessments and safety planning for victims and their children.
- Collaborate with law enforcement to complete necessary documentation and ensure victim safety following incidents of domestic violence.
- Provide crisis counseling and facilitate access to essential resources, including legal assistance, emergency housing, and mental health services.
- Establish and maintain effective working relationships with law enforcement personnel to enhance collaborative efforts.
- Manage a caseload of clients, offering targeted advocacy and support, including assistance with restraining orders and navigating legal processes.
- Work with the Crisis Support Services Manager to assess and improve operational systems as needed.
- Document all interactions and maintain accurate client records in compliance with program standards.
- Engage in community outreach to strengthen referral relationships with partner organizations.
- Participate in team meetings and training sessions as required.
- Perform additional duties as assigned by the supervisor.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Bilingual proficiency in one or more of the following languages: Spanish, Tagalog, Mandarin, or Cantonese is required.
- A Bachelor’s degree in social work, psychology, counseling, or a related field, or equivalent experience in social services.
- A minimum of two years of experience in case management or crisis response, with a preference for candidates with domestic violence or sexual assault experience.
- Familiarity with community resources in San Mateo County is highly desirable.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
- Possession of a valid driver's license and the ability to travel within the assigned jurisdiction.
- Successful completion of a background check, including fingerprinting.
- Willingness to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends.
