Job Overview

POSITION SUMMARY:

The Bilingual Caseworker at Project Open Hand plays a vital role in delivering compassionate meal services by engaging with clients, evaluating their eligibility for various programs, and conducting intake assessments for both new and returning clients. This role requires interaction with clients at our service center, responding to inquiries, and performing necessary administrative functions. Collaboration with the Client Services Department is essential to effectively serve clients and determine the best course of action for service delivery.

ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS:


• Bachelor’s degree in a Human Services related discipline


• Proficient in computer applications (MS Office/Outlook)


• Proven ability to maintain professional boundaries in a social service environment


• Fluent in Cantonese

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:


• Experience in Mental Health or Social Work


• Background in assisting clients with complex needs (e.g., substance abuse, mental health issues, critical health conditions)

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:


• Manage applications for service provision


• Conduct intake and recertification processes for clients


• Confirm eligibility for services through communication with providers and gathering necessary documentation


• Maintain an organized client database, including scheduling services and documenting interactions


• Evaluate client needs and provide appropriate referrals


• Assist clients who do not meet service criteria by connecting them with external resources


• Offer program orientation to clients, facilitating their access to services


• Address client feedback and concerns constructively; resolve complaints effectively


• Provide individualized follow-up for clients facing behavioral challenges


• Serve as a liaison between clients and agency staff/volunteers


• Represent Project Open Hand in various capacities


• Undertake additional duties as required

WORK ENVIRONMENT:
