Job Overview

Position Title: Cost Control Specialist

Location: Houston, Texas, with potential for remote work in the future

Contract Duration: Months (with possibility of contract-to-hire)

Compensation: $34.5/hr W2

Work Schedule: Day shift with flexible start and end times

Role Summary:

The Cost Control Specialist is responsible for managing and overseeing project financials within the organization. This role involves:

  • Forecasting, managing, and reporting on project costs.
  • Providing detailed analyses of project variances, trends, and expenditure reports.
  • Reviewing incurred project costs by category and estimating future expenses based on various factors such as labor productivity and material price fluctuations.
  • Performing tasks under general supervision, requiring a solid understanding of project control concepts.
  • Utilizing analytical skills to evaluate potential solutions while developing advanced competencies.
Qualifications:

Typically, the skills for this position are gained through an undergraduate degree and a minimum of 2 years of relevant experience in cost control, or through equivalent work experience.

Educational Background:

Bachelor's degree in finance or a related field.

Preferred Skills:
  • Experience in a government contracting setting.
  • Proficiency in MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint).
  • Familiarity with Cost Point, Cognos, OnBase, Deltek, and WorkDay.
  • Able to work independently under pressure with minimal oversight.
  • Capable of managing shifting deadlines and handling multiple tasks effectively.
  • Strong interpersonal skills to collaborate with various levels of project management and other departments.
  • Exemplary work ethic, along with strong mathematical and analytical capabilities; excellent written and verbal communication skills.
