Role Summary:

The Cost Control Specialist is responsible for overseeing and managing project expenditures within the organization. Key responsibilities include:

  • Forecasting, monitoring, and reporting on project financials.
  • Providing detailed analysis of project variances, trends, and expenditure reports.
  • Evaluating project costs by category and projecting future expenses based on various factors such as labor productivity and material price fluctuations.
  • Executing tasks under general supervision, utilizing established project control methodologies.
  • Demonstrating analytical competencies to identify potential solutions while enhancing skills in project cost management.
Qualifications:

The ideal candidate will possess:

  • A bachelor’s degree in finance or a related field.
  • A minimum of 2 years of experience in cost control or a similar role.
Preferred Skills:

Additional skills that are advantageous include:

  • Experience in a government contracting environment.
  • Proficiency in MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint).
  • Familiarity with software such as Cost Point, Cognos, OnBase, Deltek, and WorkDay.
  • Ability to work independently under pressure and manage multiple tasks effectively.
  • Strong interpersonal skills to collaborate with various levels of project management and cross-functional teams.
  • Demonstrated analytical and mathematical skills, along with excellent written and verbal communication abilities.
