Position Title: Cost Control Specialist
Location: Houston, Texas, with potential for remote work in the future
Contract Duration: Months (with the possibility of transitioning to a permanent role)
Compensation: $34.5 per hour (W2)
Work Schedule: Day shifts with flexible start and end times
Role Summary:The Cost Control Specialist is responsible for the forecasting, management, and reporting of project expenses within the organization. This role includes:
- Analyzing project costs and providing detailed reports on variances, trends, and expenditure analysis.
- Evaluating incurred project costs by category and predicting future expenses based on labor efficiency, material cost fluctuations, subcontractor pricing, wage rates, and risk assessments.
- Executing tasks under general supervision, while occasionally receiving direct oversight, requiring familiarity with standard project control concepts.
- Demonstrating analytical skills by exploring potential solutions through established procedures while enhancing advanced competencies.
To be considered for this position, candidates typically possess:
- A bachelor’s degree in finance or a related field.
- A minimum of 2 years of experience in cost control or equivalent practical experience.
Ideal candidates will have:
- Experience in a government contracting setting.
- Proficiency in MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint).
- Familiarity with Cost Point, Cognos, OnBase, Deltek, and WorkDay.
- The ability to work independently under pressure with minimal supervision.
- Strong organizational skills to manage changing deadlines and multiple tasks effectively.
- Excellent interpersonal skills to collaborate with various levels of project management and cross-functional teams.
- Demonstrated strong work ethic, along with strong mathematical and analytical capabilities; exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
