Key Responsibilities:

The Facilities Operations Engineer will oversee the following critical tasks:
  • Management of all MEP (Mechanical, Electrical, Plumbing) functions for the upkeep of essential facilities.
  • Ensuring fire and life safety compliance.
  • Handling mechanical systems including HVAC, plumbing, and controls.
  • Managing electrical systems such as lighting, UPS, PDU, generators, and primary switch gears.
  • Performing plumbing tasks including installation and repair of piping, valves, filters, and hot water systems.
  • Maintaining emergency backup and hot water systems.
  • Diagnosing system operations, identifying issues, and implementing corrective measures.
  • Adjusting and maintaining refrigeration, chilled water, and air conditioning units; boilers; and ventilation systems.
  • Installing and repairing plumbing systems; replacing seals on pumps.
  • Wiring single and three-phase motors; running conduit; pulling wiring to machinery and motors.
  • Installing and overhauling pumps and motors; managing air compressors and heat exchangers.
  • Assisting colleagues with significant repairs and maintenance of facilities and equipment.
  • Maintaining and operating critical equipment, including UPS systems, generators, chillers, and air conditioning units.
  • Monitoring, repairing, and maintaining refrigeration, cooling, and heating systems; documenting readings to ensure optimal operation.
  • Adhering to safety protocols for hazardous materials.
  • Upholding a clean and safe work environment.
  • Supervising contractor activities within the facility.
  • Documenting building rounds, readings, and engineering logs.
  • Training contractors on critical facility functions and emergency procedures.
  • Ensuring compliance with the Critical Facility Work Authorization process.
  • Following established engineering guidelines and procedures.
  • Completing additional tasks as assigned.
  • Working in 8-hour shifts, with potential weekend requirements.
Minimum Qualifications:
  • Hands-on experience in a data center or critical facility, particularly with UPS systems and emergency generators.
  • Ability to work independently or collaboratively.
  • High School diploma or GED equivalent.
  • Preferred Operating Engineers license (SMA) or equivalent.
  • Certification as a Universal Technician for CFCs (or to be obtained within 90 days of employment) or Licensed Journeyman Electrician with familiarity in Medium Voltage Industrial design.
  • Proficient in computer applications, including Word and Excel.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Demonstrated excellence in customer service.
