Standardized Patient Role

Job Overview:

A Standardized Patient (SP) is an individual meticulously trained to embody a patient, family member, or healthcare team member. This role is essential for the training and evaluation of healthcare professionals, including medical students and residents.


Key Responsibilities:
  • Accurately portray assigned roles in a consistent manner.
  • Effectively recall interactions and dialogues from training sessions.
  • Be prepared to wear a hospital gown during evaluations.
  • Comfortably undergo repeated physical examination procedures.
  • Provide constructive feedback to learners based on their performance.
  • Complete other related duties as required to support the department.

Qualifications:

Educational Requirement: A high school diploma, GED, or equivalent is mandatory.

Preferred Experience: Background as a standardized patient, healthcare professional, instructor, or actor is advantageous.


Skills and Abilities:

Ability to follow directions and accurately portray various clinical scenarios, including patient demeanor and communication style.

Strong interpersonal and communication skills are essential for effective feedback and interaction.


Work Schedule and Compensation:

This is a part-time position with a flexible schedule. The compensation starts at a minimum of $20.00 per hour, with salary adjustments based on qualifications.
