Role Overview

A Standardized Patient (SP) is an individual meticulously trained to represent a patient, family member, or healthcare team member. This role is essential for the training and assessment of healthcare professionals, including medical students and residents.


Key Responsibilities
  • Effectively portray assigned roles in a consistent manner.
  • Recall and communicate actions and dialogues from interactions with trainees.
  • Be comfortable wearing a hospital gown and undergoing physical examinations.
  • Provide constructive feedback to learners based on observed performance.
  • Perform additional duties as required to support departmental objectives.

Qualifications

Educational Background: High School diploma, GED, or equivalent from an accredited institution is required.

Preferred Experience: Previous experience as a standardized patient, healthcare professional, instructor, or actor is advantageous.


Skills and Abilities

Demonstrated ability to follow directions and accurately simulate clinical scenarios, including a patient’s demeanor, communication style, and medical history.

Excellent interpersonal and communication skills are essential for effective interaction with trainees.


Compensation and Benefits

Shift: Days, Monday to Friday (Part-Time, .49 FTE)
Salary: Starting at $20.00/hour, commensurate with qualifications.
