Job Summary

The Los Angeles Conservation Corps is seeking a highly motivated and organized Intake Specialist to join our team. As an Intake Specialist, you will be responsible for ensuring that participants are properly enrolled in our programs based on a professional eligibility criteria and availability of community resources. This is a unique opportunity to make a meaningful impact in the lives of young adults and school-aged youth in the Los Angeles area.

Key Responsibilities
  • Coordinate with Recruitment and other Corpsmember Development Staff to reach enrollment goals for various Department of Labor (DOL), City, County, and State contracts and other LA Conservation Corps programs.
  • Determine eligibility through set contract criteria and internal protocol.
  • Collect eligibility documentation and ensure compliance with the contract or program protocol.
  • Complete enrollment paperwork and maintain a caseload spreadsheet.
  • Ensure files are updated with supporting documentation of all eligibility and enrollment paperwork.
  • Update the Corps' internal data collection system on a daily and weekly basis or as needed.
  • Inputs enrollment and eligibility data in contract mandated databases, following contractual obligations and ensuring accurate data entry.
  • Conduct assessments for all incoming Corpsmembers and participants.
  • Keep track and submit required paperwork by due dates.
  • Maintain a variety of records relating to participants and services; prepares routine and special reports.
  • Recruits clients into the various contracts and programs offered through the Young Adult Corps and refers ineligible clients to other programs as needed.
  • Reaches and maintains monthly enrollment goals for all contracts and programs.
  • Prepares reports for contracts and shares these with staff and contracting agencies.
  • Attends required partner meetings and trainings as needed.
  • Collaborates with Case Management to ensure clients are meeting program outcomes and follow-up.
  • Punctuality and satisfactory attendance are essential functions of the job.

Education/Experience
  • High School Diploma or equivalency is required. College Degree preferred.
  • Minimum of two years experience maintaining files and passing audits.
  • Working knowledge of counseling, health, education, childcare, and other resources in the community.
  • Competent level of supervisory skills.
  • Competent level of computer skills (Microsoft Office environment) and the ability to complete the necessary reports in Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.
Other Requirements
  • Must be COVID-19 vaccinated and be able to provide supporting documentation.
  • Attend events and meetings in the community to support the program. This can involve working Saturdays or Sundays, as needed.
  • California Class C Driver's License, validation of driving record for commercial policy insurability per the requirements of the state of California.
  • Occasional use of private vehicle for company purposes; validation of driving record and approval of commercial policy insurability is required in conjunction with proof of personal minimum liability insurance coverage per the requirements of the State of California. Mileage will be reimbursed at the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) standard mileage rate.
  • Pass a post-offer drug/alcohol screen test before commencing employment (required to submit for the drug/alcohol screening at a company designated facility)
  • Pass a post-offer Live Scan (fingerprint/background clearance-Department of Justice) before commencing employment.
  • Reference checks will be conducted. Employment is contingent upon receipt of acceptable references.
Salary and Benefits
  • $24.91/hour (reflects the entire pay range); a starting wage higher than $20.42 per hour is based on a level of experience and education that exceeds the minimum requirements and is commensurate with the compensation scale (salary range).

  • 3 weeks of vacation accrued per year; 11 paid Holidays and 80 hours of sick time accrued per year.
