Job Title: Substance Abuse Intake Specialist

Clínica Romero is seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Substance Abuse Intake Specialist to join our team. As a key member of our outpatient services, you will be responsible for overseeing the entire intake process for clients seeking treatment for substance use disorders.

Responsibilities:
  • Assess and refer clients to appropriate levels of care, ensuring they meet Clinic/State and County requirements.
  • Screen calls and schedule intake appointments, following up with clients to confirm their appointments.
  • Work with QA staff to ensure all aspects of intake and initial treatment plans are completed on time and billed accurately.
  • Collaborate with Admin Assistant to ensure all provided services are billed for and follow up with SAPC to ensure all aspects of Intake are completed and requirements are met.
  • Meet all timelines throughout the entire intake process, ensuring clients receive timely and effective treatment.
  • Assist with outreach to ensure outcomes are met monthly, engaging with the community to promote Clínica Romero as a program of choice.
  • Interview clients and family members to determine admission eligibility, providing potential clients with Medical/MHLA benefits.
  • Follow up with referral sources, collecting necessary paperwork and making recommendations to the treatment staff team for client admission.
  • Develop a thorough, written diagnostic assessment, including client addiction history, family history, mental health history, history of violence, and medical health history.
  • Schedule ongoing sessions with clients, providing orientation and ensuring they understand rules and requirements of the SUD program.
  • Assist QA staff with completed/uploaded charts, making recommendations on client needs and developing comprehensive initial treatment plans.
  • Complete and review intake packets to ensure all program, state, and county requirements are met, processing and uploading all information into SAGE as necessary.
  • Work with SAPC staff to ensure all information is included and meets program/state and county requirements, assisting in planning and seeking referrals for client transfers or terminations.
  • Document and conduct all case managements, individual/CI, and other billable services, ensuring billing is maximized.
  • Assist with group/group notes when requested by QA staff or Program Director, maintaining documentation on all applicants for outpatient treatment in accordance with Federal, State, County, and agency guidelines.
  • Verify client eligibility and assist clients with Medical or MHLA benefits as needed, ensuring all forms are neat, signed, and filled out, and included in the intake packet.
  • Follow up and provide client charts with any needed documentation, completing LACPRYS/CALOMS and ensuring all client information is accurate and matches.
  • Assist with discharges/justifications, no shows, treatment planning, and meet all qualifications and requirements outlined below.
Qualifications:
  • Registered counselor; certification a plus but not required.
  • Highly motivated and good communication skills.
  • Ability to recruit new clients (adults and youth) to our agency.
  • Meet expected outcomes in terms of new clients enrolling as a result of your efforts in the community.
  • Meet goals and objectives given by Program Director.
  • Understanding of the 12 Core Functions.
  • Ability to write individual, justifications, and group progress notes/treatment plans/needed documentation that meet county standards.
  • Experience in group facilitation.
  • Understanding of the recovery process, including the twelve-step program(s).
  • Experience case managing/counseling clients in recovery.
  • Experience in observed drug testing of clients.
  • Registered or Certified Substance Abuse/Addiction Counselor through CCAPP, CAADE, or CADTP.
  • Internship completed.
  • Spanish bilingual.
  • Completion Certificate of Addiction Studies.
  • Valid driver's license and proof of insurance required.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office and Excel.
  • Experience in SAGE and SAGE training completed.
  • Experience working with Drug Medi-Cal clients.
  • Understanding of Drug Medi-Cal requirements/process.
  • Reliable transportation, as this position requires travel.
  • ASAM training and experience.
