Position Overview

Salary: $43,888-$56,249 ($46,874 midpoint) based on qualifications and experience.

Minimum Requirements: A bachelor's degree in a relevant human services discipline is essential. Preference will be given to candidates with a degree in social work or a master's degree in social work/counseling, along with licensure in North Dakota. Successful candidates will undergo training to achieve certification from the North Dakota Council on Abused Women's Services to deliver direct support to clients. A valid driver's license and personal transportation are required, along with a willingness to travel for work-related duties.

Compensation Package: The salary range is $43,888-$56,249 ($46,874 midpoint) based on education and experience. Benefits include a comprehensive leave package consisting of annual leave, sick leave, and personal days; 11 paid holidays; health, dental, vision, and life insurance; a 403(b) plan with employer matching; and potential eligibility for federal student loan forgiveness.

Reporting Structure: Reports to the Director of Victim Advocacy.

Classification: Exempt.

Key Responsibilities

Crisis Intervention:

  • Evaluate incidents of abuse, sexual assault, and stalking reported to the organization, making informed decisions to enhance victim safety.

Individual Support and Advocacy:

  • Exhibit professional listening skills while aiding clients in exploring options, setting goals, and developing coping strategies.
  • Provide victims with precise information regarding the criminal justice system, court processes, protective orders, and law enforcement protocols.
  • Accompany victims during legal proceedings and medical evaluations, offering necessary support.
  • Facilitate and lead support groups for victims of domestic violence and sexual assault as needed.

Campus Support:

  • Act as a confidential advisor on campus for victims of dating and domestic violence, sexual assault, sexual harassment, and stalking.
  • Maintain regular office hours, being accessible to students, faculty, and staff, and serve as a resource for other campus departments.
  • Assist students in obtaining supportive measures to address safety and academic issues.
  • Educate students, faculty, and staff about sexual misconduct reporting options and investigation processes.
  • Familiarize oneself with Title IX regulations and mandatory reporting obligations related to victimization on college campuses, collaborating closely with the University's Equal Opportunity and Title IX Office.
  • Advocate for students during campus disciplinary hearings and support their academic success following incidents of sexual misconduct, stalking, or domestic violence.
  • Participate in the Committee on Sexual Violence Prevention & Response and co-chair the Victim and Other Impacted Individuals subcommittee.

Referrals:

  • Be knowledgeable about related agencies and services, providing clients with appropriate referral information.

Record Keeping:

  • Ensure accurate, complete, and timely documentation of all client interactions and agency communications, adhering to established protocols.
  • Administer and collect feedback surveys from clients seeking crisis and support services.

Public Education:

  • Collaborate with the Prevention and Education Campus Coordinator to develop programming and social media outreach aimed at raising awareness about healthy relationships, sexual assault, domestic violence, consent, and bystander intervention.
  • Engage in classroom presentations, workshops, and events with the Prevention and Education Campus Coordinator as opportunities arise.
  • Deliver presentations and educational sessions to the public and local professionals on topics pertinent to the role.

Committee Participation:

  • Engage in agency and community committees as assigned.

Additional Duties:

  • Perform other responsibilities as assigned.
