PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
The Student Support Coordinator's main objective is to assist at-risk students and their families. This role involves collaboration with school staff, including principals, teachers, and social workers, to advocate for the rights and needs of these students. Responsibilities include:
- Registrar Duties:
- Develop and manage the Master Schedule, ensuring students are enrolled in suitable courses.
- Pre-register current students and evaluate transcripts for new student admissions.
- Facilitate transitions for students moving to new educational institutions.
- Coordinate and oversee state assessments, ensuring compliance with all requirements.
- Train staff to assist in proctoring assessments and maintain participation rates.
- Student Advocacy:
- Collaborate with a team to create intervention plans that support students' pathways to graduation.
- Engage with students to address their needs and concerns effectively.
- Guide students in making informed decisions that promote academic success.
- Support students during transitions, ensuring their learning goals are communicated effectively.
- Contribute to a safe and productive educational environment.
- Participate in school events and activities to foster community engagement.
- Assist students in exploring college and career opportunities.
- Transition Coordination:
- Support teachers in guiding students through their post-secondary planning.
- Participate in the development of Behavior Intervention Plans as needed.
- Provide individualized support to students in various learning settings.
- Implement strategies to motivate students and enhance their academic performance.
- Maintain organization and attention to detail in tracking student progress.
- Coordinate transportation for students to relevant job sites.
QUALIFICATIONS:
The ideal candidate will possess a Bachelor’s degree or a combination of relevant education and experience in education, social work, or related fields. Experience working with at-risk populations is essential.
Skills Required:
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Ability to perform basic mathematical calculations.
- Competence in using standard office software and willingness to learn new technologies.
- Ability to follow detailed instructions and manage multiple tasks effectively.
Physical and Work Environment: The role requires regular communication and interaction within a school setting, including the ability to move around the premises and occasionally lift items up to 25 pounds.
