Position Title: Customer Service and Merchandise Coordinator

Department: Campus Store

Overview:

The University of New Brunswick Saint John is seeking a dedicated individual for the role of Customer Service and Merchandise Coordinator within the Campus Store. This is a full-time, ongoing position that is integral to the CUPE employee group. The role is supported by the University Budget, offering a competitive hourly wage.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Ensure exceptional customer service standards are upheld.
  • Supervise and guide the cashier and customer service teams.
  • Utilize point-of-sale systems and inventory management software on a daily basis.
  • Enhance operational efficiency and user experience through IT solutions.
  • Manage the availability of clothing and merchandise via the online store.
  • Design and implement promotional signage and materials for events and outreach.
  • Oversee the presentation and organization of merchandise displays.
  • Handle the receipt, pricing, and merchandising of inventory.
  • Maintain accurate inventory and asset management for merchandise.
  • Collaborate with the Campus Store Manager on product selection and purchasing strategies.
  • Coordinate the adoption and ordering of textbooks and course materials.
  • Work with Supply Chain Management to establish effective sourcing agreements.
  • Address any issues related to the procurement and pricing of merchandise.
  • Participate in inventory counts, including both periodic and annual assessments.
  • Develop and monitor financial sales targets, ensuring budgetary compliance.
  • Continuously evaluate business processes and implement necessary improvements.
  • Recommend updates to policies and procedures for the bookstore.
  • Foster positive relationships with university departments, customers, suppliers, and internal stakeholders.

Qualifications:

  • Post-secondary degree or relevant certification.
  • A minimum of 3-5 years of experience in customer service or retail.
  • Experience in business process design is an advantage; familiarity with supply chain concepts is beneficial.
  • Extensive experience in a University or College Campus Store is highly desirable.
  • Strong communication and leadership abilities, with a collaborative mindset.
  • Adaptability to change and composure under pressure.
  • Proficient in managing multiple tasks and priorities effectively.
  • Excellent analytical and organizational skills.
  • Willingness to travel as necessary.
  • Availability for extended hours and weekends as required.
  • Physical capability to lift items weighing up to 20 lbs.
