Key Responsibilities

Under general oversight, you will be accountable for the comprehensive execution and performance of mechanical retrofit initiatives. Your role involves adhering to standardized project management protocols and achieving financial objectives for assigned projects. You will coordinate daily activities of mechanics and subcontractors while securing new work and change orders from existing clients. Additionally, you will conduct mechanical project estimations and reviews, serving as a technical resource for the sales team.

Execution Strategy

Your duties will include planning, executing, and managing designated mechanical projects. You will oversee the mechanical retrofit process to ensure compliance with established standards. Facilitating the escalation of product-related issues will also be part of your responsibilities.

You will be tasked with securing new projects and change orders from the current customer base, estimating mechanical work, and presenting proposals.

As a technical resource for sales, you will assist in project development and conduct pre-bid reviews.

You will recruit, hire, and supervise team members to ensure the project team is adequately staffed. Collaborating with the Truck-Based teams will be essential to maintain appropriate manpower levels.

Contract Management

Your role will require reviewing and interpreting contract terms and conditions, coordinating with support teams on drawing layouts and detailing for proper installation. You will analyze financial reporting systems and project schedules to proactively identify potential issues and manage risks.

Providing ongoing cost and estimate analysis reporting will be crucial, as will managing the allocation of costs to financial reporting systems.

You will utilize standard tracking and reporting tools to effectively communicate project progress and financial status to management.

Additionally, you will investigate opportunities for enhancements in project scope that could lead to value-added change orders, performing related cost estimates and securing customer approval.

Asset Management

Your responsibilities will include overseeing asset management, which encompasses collections, cost control, progress billings, and payables. You will ensure compliance with specifications, local codes, and installation techniques for assigned projects.

Negotiating material, equipment, and subcontract buyouts while resolving disputes will be part of your role.

You will manage procurement, warehousing, and logistics processes, ensuring high-quality written communications. Compliance with contract requirements and standards will be essential for project document controls.

Building and maintaining strong, long-term relationships with customers and subcontractors will be a priority. You will lead job progress meetings as necessary, ensuring subcontractors understand project expectations and managing the project execution plan, including updates to the project schedule.

Finally, you will ensure a smooth transition to the appropriate team at the close-out phase and coordinate performance training requirements for owners.

Qualifications

Required

A high school diploma or equivalent, along with technical or related training.


At least six years of extensive technical and operational knowledge of the service industry, particularly in fast-track retrofit, remodel, and tenant improvement projects.


Proven leadership skills with the ability to guide a team of mechanics on projects typically generating up to $2M in revenue.

Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to convey technical information to non-technical audiences.

Proficiency in project management software and financial accounting systems is essential.

Strong computer skills in MS Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint), Adobe Writer, Visio, and a basic Windows environment are required.

Willingness to travel within and outside the assigned geographical area.

Preferred

Two to four years of training in engineering or trade school, with a preference for engineering backgrounds.


Seven or more years of installation and service experience related to HVAC mechanical systems and equipment is preferred.

An HVAC license for NC/SC is desirable.
