Position Overview

Under general supervision, the Mechanical Project Supervisor is accountable for the comprehensive execution and performance of HVAC retrofit initiatives. This role involves adhering to standardized project management protocols to achieve financial objectives for assigned projects. The supervisor will coordinate daily activities of mechanics and subcontractors, while also securing new projects and change orders from existing clients.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Plan, execute, and oversee mechanical projects, ensuring compliance with established practices.
  2. Facilitate the resolution of product-related issues and manage project timelines effectively.
  3. Estimate mechanical work and present proposals to clients, acting as a technical resource for the sales team.
  4. Recruit, hire, and manage project team resources, ensuring adequate staffing levels.
  5. Review contract terms and conditions to ensure compliance and understanding.
  6. Collaborate with support teams on layout and detailing for optimal job installation.
  7. Analyze financial reports and project schedules to proactively identify and mitigate risks.
  8. Provide ongoing cost analysis and manage financial reporting systems.
  9. Utilize tracking and reporting tools to communicate project progress and financial status to management.
  10. Identify opportunities for project improvements that may lead to value-added change orders.
  11. Oversee asset management, including collections and cost control.
  12. Ensure compliance with specifications, local codes, and installation techniques.
  13. Negotiate material and subcontractor agreements, resolving any disputes that arise.
  14. Manage procurement, warehousing, and logistics for project materials.
  15. Maintain high-quality written communications and ensure project documentation meets contract requirements.
  16. Develop and sustain long-term relationships with clients and subcontractors, leading project meetings as necessary.
  17. Coordinate the transition of project close-out to the appropriate teams.
  18. Ensure compliance with safety standards among team members and subcontractors.

Qualifications

Required:

  • High school diploma or equivalent, with technical training preferred.
  • A minimum of six years of extensive knowledge in the service industry, particularly in fast-track retrofit and tenant improvement projects.
  • Proven leadership abilities to guide a team of mechanics on projects with revenues up to $2M.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, capable of conveying technical information to non-technical audiences.
  • Proficiency in project management software and financial accounting systems.
  • Competence in MS Office Suite, Adobe Writer, Visio, and basic Windows environments.
  • Willingness to travel within and outside the assigned geographic area.

Preferred:

  • Two to four years of training in engineering or related fields.
  • Seven or more years of experience in HVAC installation and service.
  • HVAC license for relevant states.
