Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Mechanical Project Engineer to join our Global Engineering Extrusion Innovation team at Sealed Air Corporation. This individual will have direct ownership of large and small projects globally and will have the opportunity to make a significant impact for our company.

Key Responsibilities

As a Senior Mechanical Project Engineer, you will be responsible for:

  • Leading the development, testing, and implementation of new equipment supporting our Touchless Automation/digitalization initiative.
  • Applying strong technical skills to all facets of projects, including budgeting, planning, and solution development, equipment specification, design, and startup, while coordinating with internal stakeholders, external suppliers, and contractors to complete projects on time and within budget.
  • Providing technical leadership throughout development and effectively interfacing with internal and external customers.
  • Developing automation solutions to optimize plant floor operations, including process and material flow.
  • Identifying and evaluating new technologies that can be incorporated into our existing processes to improve yield, increase throughput, and/or reduce cost.
  • Creating and reviewing 3D CAD designs and 2D drawings.
  • Conducting hands-on testing of prototype equipment.

Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • A minimum B.S. in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent from an ABET accredited university.
  • Minimum 3+ years of relevant product or equipment design and development experience.
  • Demonstrated ability to meet technical challenges with creative and innovative solutions.
  • Demonstrated ability to take projects from the concept stage all the way through commissioning and hand-off.
  • Exceptional problem-solving and mechanical design abilities, particularly in industrial equipment design.
  • Proficiency in 3D CAD Design (SolidWorks experience preferred) and SolidWorks PDM.
  • Experience with industrial pneumatics systems design is a plus.
  • Experience and familiarity with controls/automation systems is a plus.
  • Demonstrated ability to work both independently and within a team, generating results with general/minimal guidance from management.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and a work ethic that corresponds with our company's core values.
  • Ability and willingness to travel up to 20%.
