Role Overview

In this position, you will be accountable for the comprehensive management and execution of mechanical retrofit initiatives. Your responsibilities will include adhering to established project management protocols and achieving financial objectives for the projects assigned to you. You will coordinate daily operations for mechanics and subcontractors while securing additional work and change orders from current clients.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Plan, execute, and oversee mechanical projects, ensuring compliance with standard practices.
  2. Facilitate the resolution of product-related issues and secure new business opportunities.
  3. Estimate mechanical work and prepare proposals for clients.
  4. Serve as a technical advisor for the sales team, assisting in project development and conducting pre-bid evaluations.
  5. Recruit and manage project team resources, ensuring appropriate staffing levels.
  6. Review contract terms and conditions, ensuring clarity and compliance.
  7. Collaborate with support teams on layout and detailing for effective job installation.
  8. Analyze financial reports and project timelines to proactively identify and mitigate risks.
  9. Provide ongoing cost analysis and manage financial reporting systems.
  10. Utilize tracking and reporting tools to communicate project status and financial health to management.
  11. Identify opportunities for project enhancements that could lead to value-added change orders.
  12. Oversee asset management, including collections and cost control.
  13. Ensure compliance with specifications, local regulations, and installation practices.
  14. Negotiate procurement of materials and resolve any disputes that arise.
  15. Manage logistics related to material procurement and warehousing.
  16. Maintain high-quality written communications and ensure document control aligns with contractual obligations.
  17. Foster strong, long-term relationships with clients and subcontractors, leading progress meetings as necessary.
  18. Ensure a smooth transition to the appropriate operational teams upon project completion.
  19. Coordinate training requirements for owners and ensure adherence to safety standards.

Qualifications

Required:

  • High school diploma or equivalent, with technical training preferred.
  • A minimum of six years of extensive technical and operational experience in the service industry, particularly in fast-track retrofit and tenant improvement projects.
  • Proven leadership skills with the ability to manage a team on projects with revenues up to $2M.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, capable of conveying technical information to non-technical audiences.
  • Proficiency in project management software and financial accounting systems.
  • Strong computer skills in MS Office, Adobe Writer, Visio, and basic Windows applications.
  • Willingness to travel as required.

Preferred:

  • Two to four years of engineering or trade school training.
  • Seven or more years of experience in HVAC mechanical systems installation and service.
  • HVAC license for NC/SC.
