We are looking for a Technical Sales Consultant (TSC) to spearhead the development and management of solar project proposals for commercial clients. The TSC will be instrumental in crafting proposals that ensure successful project outcomes for all parties involved. Responsibilities include presenting initial and formal designs, cash flow analyses, financing alternatives, and project feasibility assessments, while effectively communicating with clients and overseeing projects from inception to completion. The role encompasses selling cash, financing, and PPA/lease solar transactions. The TSC must collaborate efficiently across various departments to achieve revenue targets.

Compensation

The base salary for this position is $50,000.00 USD, contingent upon knowledge, skills, and experience, supplemented by a sales commission that ranges from 1% to 4% of the gross project amount, depending on job specifics and bid competitiveness.

Key Responsibilities

  • Strategically develop a business plan, maintain an active sales pipeline, and engage consistently with potential clients and leads.
  • Generate leads for commercial and industrial solar projects through collaboration with the marketing team, networking, and independent lead generation efforts.
  • Conduct financial assessments of clients' energy consumption and illustrate the benefits of solar energy.
  • Facilitate both cash and PPA (Power Purchase Agreement) transactions.
  • Interpret basic single line diagrams and recognize commercial-grade electrical equipment.
  • Possess familiarity with three-phase power, large electrical services, and some knowledge of medium voltage systems.
  • Understand utility rate structures and factors influencing Return on Investment.
  • Knowledge of solar plus storage systems is advantageous; a willingness to learn is essential.
  • Effectively present both short-term and long-term financial returns and environmental benefits of solar energy.
  • Stay informed about financing options for solar and conduct cost-benefit analyses to present on return on investment.
  • Set appointments through referrals and self-generated leads.
  • Utilize a consultative approach to convey the value of solar energy.
  • Document all client interactions in the CRM system with meticulous attention to detail.
  • Enhance client satisfaction and encourage future referrals through prompt follow-up and excellent customer service.
  • Keep abreast of commercial rebates and incentives at local, state, and federal levels.
  • Regularly participate in industry events, webinars, trade shows, and zoning meetings.
  • Exhibit flexibility to work outside standard hours to meet client needs.
  • Act as an ambassador for Harvest Solar, promoting increased awareness of solar energy.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

  • Comprehension of relevant industry codes and processes, along with product knowledge in a sales and administrative context.

  • Support for a growing business by identifying problems and proposing solutions.
  • Commitment to working necessary hours to achieve organizational objectives.
  • Proficient use of Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, etc.) and ability to learn design software.
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.

Educational and Certification Requirements

  • Valid State Driver's License is required.
  • High school diploma or GED is required.
  • Minimum of 5 years of technical sales experience (preferably in power systems) is required; 2+ years of experience in commercial solar sales is preferred.
  • Knowledge of solar energy and/or experience in the solar industry is preferred.

Work Environment

  • Day travel up to 80% and overnight travel up to 10%: Harvest values work-life balance, with overnight travel typically occurring Monday through Friday. Travel expenses including food per diem, hotel, and transportation are covered.
  • Commercial Construction Setting 10% of the time: Exposure to job site conditions and outdoor work with varying weather and construction site hazards.
  • Office Environment 10% of the time: A busy office atmosphere requiring multitasking and standard office equipment, including Microsoft Office.
