We are currently seeking a Technical Sales Consultant (TSC) to spearhead the development and management of solar project proposals for commercial clients. The TSC will play a pivotal role in crafting proposals that facilitate successful project execution for all parties involved. Responsibilities include presenting initial and detailed designs, financial projections, financing alternatives, and project viability assessments, while maintaining effective communication with clients throughout the project lifecycle. The TSC will engage in selling cash transactions, financing options, and PPA/lease agreements for solar installations. A collaborative spirit is essential, as the TSC will work closely with various departments to achieve revenue targets.

Compensation

The starting salary for this position is $50,000.00 USD, commensurate with experience and expertise, in addition to a sales commission structure ranging from 1% to 4% of the total project value, depending on specific job characteristics and bid competitiveness.

Key Responsibilities

  • Strategically develop and maintain a robust business pipeline, actively engaging with sales prospects and customer leads.
  • Generate leads for commercial and industrial solar projects through collaboration with the marketing team, networking, and independent lead generation efforts.
  • Conduct financial assessments of clients' energy consumption and effectively demonstrate the benefits of solar energy solutions.
  • Facilitate both cash and PPA (Power Purchase Agreement) sales.
  • Interpret basic single line diagrams and recognize commercial-grade electrical systems.
  • Possess familiarity with three-phase power, large electrical services, and a foundational understanding of medium voltage systems.
  • Comprehend utility rate structures and factors influencing Return on Investment.
  • Knowledge of solar plus storage systems is advantageous; a willingness to learn is essential.
  • Articulate the short and long-term financial benefits and environmental impacts of solar energy effectively.
  • Stay informed about financing options for solar projects, conducting cost-benefit analyses and presenting compelling ROI narratives.
  • Schedule appointments through referrals and self-generated leads.
  • Employ a consultative approach to showcase the value of solar energy.
  • Document all client interactions in the CRM system with meticulous attention to detail.
  • Enhance customer satisfaction and encourage future referrals through prompt follow-up and exceptional service.
  • Keep abreast of commercial rebates and incentives at local, state, and federal levels.
  • Participate in industry events, webinars, trade shows, and zoning meetings regularly.
  • Exhibit flexibility to work outside standard hours to meet client needs.
  • Act as an ambassador for Harvest Solar, promoting increased awareness of solar energy.

Educational and Certification Requirements

  • Valid State Driver's License is required.
  • High school diploma or GED is required.
  • A minimum of 5 years of technical sales experience (preferably in power systems) is required; 2+ years of experience in commercial solar sales is preferred.
  • Knowledge of solar energy and/or experience in the solar industry is preferred.

Work Environment

  • Day travel may account for up to 80% of the role, with overnight travel up to 10%. Harvest Solar values work-life balance, and overnight travel is typically scheduled from Monday to Friday, with all travel-related expenses covered.
  • Exposure to commercial construction settings 10% of the time, requiring outdoor work in varying weather conditions and potential construction site hazards.
  • Office environment 10% of the time, characterized by a busy atmosphere with frequent interruptions and the need for multitasking; standard office equipment, including Microsoft Office, is available.
