About the Role

Ramboll US Corporation is seeking a highly skilled Senior Mechanical Engineer to join our Advanced Manufacturing Division in Charlotte, NC. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for designing and engineering mechanical systems, with a focus on heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC) related work.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design and Engineering: Perform design and engineering work in various areas of the mechanical discipline, including HVAC, industrial piping, plumbing, central utility plants, compressed air systems, chilled water systems, steam systems, and fire protection.
  • Collaboration and Coordination: Coordinate with other engineering disciplines to produce final construction drawings and details associated with mechanical engineering projects.
  • Conceptual Design and Cost Estimation: Develop conceptual designs and cost estimates for early stages of the project life cycle.
  • Design Drawings and Documentation: Create design drawings utilizing Revit 3D design software and develop written reports and/or presentations that are cohesive and of the highest quality.
  • Investigative Energy Assessments: Conduct or participate in investigative energy assessments to identify energy and cost savings measures.
  • Building Ventilation Systems: Assess and design building ventilation systems based on requirements for heat removal in industrial spaces and maintaining indoor air quality.
  • Energy Conservation Measures: Conduct spreadsheet analysis to assess the energy and cost savings of proposed energy conservation measures (ECMs) and utilize building modeling software (HAP or Trane Trace) to determine envelope heat gains/losses and assess savings potentials of ECMs.
  • Equipment Specification and Design: Specify mechanical equipment and design plumbing and building utility piping systems.
  • Project Execution and Safety: Adhere to the policies and standards set forth in Ramboll's Project Execution Manual and promote and maintain a safe working environment for all employees by adhering to Ramboll's Health, Safety, and Environmental procedures.
Requirements
  • Education: B.S. in Mechanical Engineering or greater.
  • Experience: 10+ years of experience in engineering and design of HVAC systems.
  • Licensure: Licensed professional engineer strongly preferred.
  • Skills and Qualifications: Ability to foster a creative engineering environment, strong communication skills (both in written and verbal), ability to work across a wide range of areas within the mechanical engineering discipline, strong computer skills in the Microsoft Office suite of programs, and experience with AutoCAD and Revit design software preferred.
