Configuration Control Specialist

Key Responsibilities:

Utilize your knowledge in configuration management (CM) practices throughout the planning, design, execution, testing, and deployment stages of both developmental and operational systems life cycles for hardware and software. Identify configuration items (CIs) and enforce change control, configuration status tracking, and configuration audits. Actively participate in review boards and assess process change proposals while upholding change management protocols. Collaborate with a team to establish and sustain software, hardware, and documentation configuration baselines across development, testing, and production environments. Adapt CM plans and procedures to align with the complexity and scope of the system in question. Implement CM discipline throughout the entire lifecycle of systems, from initial requirements and capabilities baselines to system decommissioning. Engage daily with engineering, development, testing, cybersecurity, support, and help desk teams to capture change requests and maintain authorized baseline configurations for lifecycle support. Monitor all issues and modifications in product documentation and software, reporting changes, controlling standard operating procedures, and configurations. Coordinate with vendors and contractors to anticipate changes to hardware and software configurations and facilitate distribution to development, engineering, and cybersecurity teams as needed. Recommend or utilize automated CM tools to bolster the execution of CM policies and procedures. Conduct quality assurance on all CM-developed and deliverable products, manage and input data within CM and logistics tools, and generate comprehensive reports reflecting hardware, software, and logistics information. Independently manage CM tasks or projects to ensure timely completion, enhance and maintain a CM database for streamlined operations and maintenance, and implement declarative state CM using widely accepted CM tools to oversee and maintain artifact repositories, cloud infrastructure, containers, networking components, servers, and other physical devices as required.
