Job Summary for the PRN Radiologic Technologist

The Radiologic Technologist is responsible for performing radiographic procedures in alignment with the standards established by the ARRT. This role requires a solid understanding of human anatomy, patient care, imaging techniques, radiation safety, and specialized procedures. The technologist must uphold professional standards and ethical conduct in accordance with the ARRT Code of Ethics and the values of St. David's Healthcare.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct all diagnostic radiographic procedures, including emergency, surgical, fluoroscopic, and portable imaging.
  • Operate radiography equipment and related accessories effectively.
  • Interpret and act on orders from referring physicians.
  • Adhere to radiation safety protocols as per hospital guidelines.
  • Assist physicians in procedures requiring sterile techniques.
  • Prepare and administer contrast media for imaging exams.
  • Evaluate patients' conditions before and during radiologic procedures.
  • Ensure optimal patient care throughout the imaging process.
  • Verify patients' clinical histories and document relevant information for healthcare providers.
  • Perform additional departmental duties as required.
  • Conduct minor equipment maintenance and report issues to supervisors.
Qualifications for the PRN Radiologic Technologist

Education:

  • Graduate of an accredited Radiologic Technology program or equivalent qualifications for Texas certification.

Experience:

  • Entry-level candidates may be considered based on shift requirements and responsibilities.

Licenses and Certifications:

  • Certification as a Medical Radiologic Technologist by the Texas Department of State Health Services.
  • ARRT (R) certification in Radiology.
  • Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) or CPR certification must be obtained within 30 days of employment.
