Job Responsibilities of the Radiologic Technologist

The Radiologic Technologist is responsible for delivering healthcare services by applying x-ray technology to aid in diagnosis or treatment. Key responsibilities include:

  • Conducting all diagnostic and screening imaging procedures, including emergency, surgical, fluoroscopic, and portable imaging.
  • Assisting physicians and radiologists in procedures that require sterile techniques.
  • Preparing and administering contrast media necessary for radiologic examinations.
  • Evaluating patient conditions before and during radiologic procedures.
  • Performing additional departmental duties as required.
Qualifications for the Radiologic Technologist

Education:

  • Completion of a radiology educational program accredited by the Joint Review Committee on Education in Radiologic Technology (JRCERT) or an equivalent program.
  • An Associate Degree or higher in Radiologic Technology.

Experience:

  • Preferred one year of experience as a Radiologic Technologist.

Licenses and Certifications:

  • Licensed Medical Radiologic Technologist (MRT) as per Texas Medical Board regulations.
  • Registered technologist with the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists, holding primary certification in Radiography - ARRT (R).
  • Basic Cardiac Life Support certification must be obtained within 30 days of employment commencement.
