Job Summary

The Special Procedures Technologist plays a vital role in the Imaging Department at St. David's Medical Center, providing technical assistance to physicians in the Interventional Suites. This position requires a strong understanding of diagnostic and interventional procedures, as well as excellent communication and patient care skills.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist with all procedures performed in the Interventional Suite, ensuring patient safety and comfort throughout the exam.
  • Demonstrate proficiency with all equipment within the Interventional Suite procedure room, including fluoroscopy, pan tables, and ultrasound units.
  • Prepare patients and rooms for exams, managing wires and other components required for procedures.
  • Perform the role of circulator during procedures, pulling supplies, altering technique as needed, and communicating with patients and families.
  • Provide patient care throughout procedures, explaining the exam to patients and ensuring their understanding.
  • Adhere to Standard Precautions and Isolation Precautions as necessary.
Requirements
  • Associate Degree or graduate from an accredited Radiological Technology Program (ARRT)
  • 2 years of Radiology Tech experience in an acute setting
  • 1-2 years of experience as an Interventional Technologist
  • Licensed Medical Radiologic Technologist (MRT) with the Texas Medical Board
  • Registered with the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT)
  • Primary certification in Radiography - ARRT (R) or Vascular Interventional Radiography (VI)
