Job Overview

Ameresco is currently in search of a proficient Lead Commissioning Engineer to enhance our operations. This role will primarily focus on overseeing projects with occasional travel requirements.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver technical guidance during the installation, commissioning, and initiation of mechanical, electrical, and environmental control systems in both new and existing facilities;
  • Evaluate designs of mechanical and electrical schematics and specifications for each system or unit;
  • Develop pre-functional and functional performance testing protocols;
  • Oversee the start-up process and create checklists for mechanical contractors;
  • Conduct field inspections, observe equipment start-ups, and manage testing and balancing activities;
  • Execute functional performance tests and supervise the process with contractors;
  • Assess and enhance building controls and energy management systems;
  • Engage in project teams aimed at reducing energy consumption and demand;
  • Compile commissioning reports to convey overall outcomes; and,
  • Perform additional duties as necessary.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering or a Technical field; or a minimum of 4 years of relevant work experience.
  • At least five years of pertinent experience in HVAC Commissioning, building controls, or building operations.
  • A valid Driver's license in good standing is mandatory.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in managing and executing commissioning for HVAC and control systems in new or retrofitted buildings.
  • Professional Commissioning Certification is advantageous.
  • Strong understanding of mechanical systems and controls, HVAC system analysis, with experience in facility operations and mechanical installation related to chiller and boiler plants, motors, VSDs, HVAC design/retrofit, building automation, and energy efficiency.
  • Proficiency in MS Office, particularly Excel and Word.
  • Exceptional verbal, written, and technical communication skills.
  • Physical activity may be required, including accessing roofs, climbing ladders, and lifting up to 60 pounds of equipment.
  • Fieldwork is expected; approximately 75% of responsibilities will be conducted on-site.
