Job Overview

Position Summary

The Retail Operations Supervisor plays a crucial role in supporting the Retail Managers with the daily functions of the retail environment, ensuring customer satisfaction while driving business success and adhering to all standards and legal requirements.

This position reports directly to the Retail Manager and is situated within a dynamic cafe setting.


Key Responsibilities

TEAM MANAGEMENT:

  • Welcomes team members at the start of their shifts to foster a positive work atmosphere.
  • Regularly acknowledges and guides team members with constructive feedback and support.
  • Inspires staff daily through a positive demeanor and open communication.
  • Informs team members about operational procedures and updates from restaurant, regional, and corporate levels.
  • Collaborates with management to assess work practices, review operational standards, and identify opportunities for enhanced efficiency.
  • Trains and empowers staff to make informed decisions regarding customer service by following company training protocols.
  • Monitors and coaches team members on performance, adherence to procedures, and workload management.
  • Utilizes daily retail reports to communicate objectives and emerging business trends.
  • Notifies management of team members who do not meet performance standards to maintain a high-quality workforce.
  • Ensures compliance with safety, sanitation, and security protocols.
  • Listens to feedback from customers and team members to identify strengths and areas for improvement.
  • Prepares retail staff for shifts and ensures the retail environment is ready for operations.
  • Schedules breaks and assigns zones for retail staff during shifts.
  • Creates and adjusts weekly work schedules based on employee needs and business volume.

SALES AND FINANCIAL PERFORMANCE:

  • Responsible for opening and closing the retail store.
  • Completes necessary checklists for opening and closing procedures.
  • Balances staffing levels to create a cost-effective operational plan.
  • Assesses the condition of retail fixtures and addresses minor maintenance issues as needed.
  • Monitors product levels and storage to ensure adequate inventory.
  • Organizes visual merchandising to enhance customer engagement and drive sales.
  • Observes team members during customer interactions to ensure compliance with policies and a positive customer experience.
  • Assists management with inventory preparation as required.
  • Conducts product pull lists to replenish stock.
  • Verifies cash registers and deposits before final validation by management.
  • Ensures that staff completes daily reports accurately.
  • Reviews employee sales performance reports to assess effectiveness.
  • Monitors team behavior and inventory counts to maintain integrity.
  • Supervises deliveries, validating invoices and ensuring product quality.
  • Coordinates with other managers to ensure all retail duties are completed to standard.
  • Contributes to financial growth by driving sales and managing expenses effectively.
  • Assists in training and retaining staff to deliver exceptional customer service and achieve sales targets.
  • Innovates strategies to promote new initiatives that enhance sales and profitability.

Qualifications

Experience, Education, and Certifications:

Requirements include:

  • 3-5 years of supervisory experience
  • Knowledge of inventory management and financial reporting
  • Two years of experience in a high-volume supervisory role
  • High School diploma or GED preferred
  • Proficiency in English communication; bilingual preferred
  • Flexibility to work varied schedules as needed
