Farm Operations HR Specialist

80 Acres Farms is a vertical farming leader, operating commercial farms in Ohio, Kentucky, and soon Georgia in addition to research and development farms in Arkansas and The Hague, Netherlands. Job Description
We are seeking an experienced HR Generalist to join our team at our Hamilton, Ohio facility. As an HR Generalist, you will be responsible for creating a positive and productive work environment for both hourly production employees and salaried staff. You will work closely with our farm operations team to cultivate a culture that prioritizes safety, quality, continuous learning, high performance, and inclusion. Key responsibilities include employee relations, recruitment, onboarding, benefits administration, leadership development, compliance, training, and HR projects and initiatives.
Responsibilities:
- Employee Relations: Act as the first point of contact for employee inquiries, addressing concerns with discretion and confidentiality. Support positive employee relations by resolving workplace issues, coaching supervisors, and implementing engagement initiatives.
- Recruitment & Onboarding: Collaborate with TA specialist to assist in managing full-cycle recruitment for hourly production and salaried roles. Facilitate a smooth onboarding process for new hires, including orientation and paperwork. Work with hiring managers to understand staffing needs and workforce planning.
- Performance Management: Support managers in performance appraisal processes, providing guidance on goal-setting, coaching, and corrective action when necessary. Partner with managers to develop action plans for underperforming employees and support succession planning initiatives.
- Compliance & Recordkeeping: Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws (e.g., FLSA, FMLA, OSHA, etc.) and maintain up-to-date knowledge of regulatory changes. Manage employee records and documentation, ensuring accuracy, confidentiality, and compliance with retention policies.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, related field or equivalent experience.
- 2+ years of HR experience in a manufacturing or production environment.
- Knowledge of federal and state employment laws and regulations.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills; bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred.
- Ability to handle sensitive information with discretion and confidentiality.
- Strong analytical skills and ability to resolve issues in a fair, consistent, and timely manner.
- Ability to remain flexible and composed in a dynamic production setting.
- Commitment to building positive relationships and enhancing the employee experience.
- Proficiency with HRIS and Microsoft Office Suite.
Salary and Benefits:
The estimated salary for this role is $60,000 - $80,000 per year, depending on experience. We offer a comprehensive benefits package, including health, dental, and vision insurance starting day one of employment, paid time off based on years of experience, 1-week paid health & wellness time, 10 paid holidays, parental leave, annual tuition reimbursement, 401k with up to 4% company match, company-paid life insurance, and short and long-term disability insurance.
