San Diego, California, United States ZEIDERS ENTERPRISES INC Full time

Position Overview

This role necessitates that selected candidates reside within a 100-mile radius of a Naval Installation in the designated support region.

Job Title: SAIL Case Manager

Program Summary

The Navy's Sailor Assistance and Intercept for Life (SAIL) initiative aims to provide command support and engagement throughout a Sailor's recovery following a suicide-related incident. This program is designed to facilitate successful reintegration and maintain mission readiness. Through voluntary, supportive interactions with SAIL Case Managers, the program monitors a Sailor's recovery progress utilizing evidence-based tools at various recovery stages. SAIL also aims to enhance a Sailor's adherence to existing treatment through monitoring and command support, while empowering them to develop coping skills and resilience. The program offers immediate clinical case management services that address risk management, care coordination, and reintegration assistance for Sailors identified during critical periods following suicidal thoughts or behaviors.

Work Environment

SAIL Case Managers will work remotely full-time from approved contractor locations but must be situated within the local commuting area of a Navy installation for background checks, CAC issuance, and NMCI account maintenance. In times of crisis, SAIL Case Managers may be required to travel to provide on-site clinical support to clients.

Key Responsibilities

  • Receive referrals from Command and non-Command sources, making initial contact with referred Sailors to explain the SAIL program.
  • Conduct initial clinical assessments and ongoing risk evaluations using the Columbia Suicide Severity Risk Scale (C-SSRS), along with ongoing safety planning.
  • Collaborate closely with the Sailor's Command, providing regular updates on risk, safety, and recovery progress.
  • Deliver clinical case management to enrolled Sailors in accordance with established protocols, ensuring connections to behavioral health providers and supportive resources.
  • Document referral information for Sailors who decline contact and notify Command when SAIL services conclude, advising on procedures if the Sailor's risk of suicide-related behavior resurfaces.
  • Report suspected child abuse and domestic violence to local authorities and provide necessary referrals for restricted reporting.
  • Ensure Sailors receive evaluations by qualified staff following any suicide-related incidents, coordinating with the Sailor's command.
  • Engage with Sailors' behavioral health providers upon receiving appropriate release of information.
  • Participate in quarterly quality assurance procedures to ensure the safety and quality of SAIL services.
  • Maintain accurate records in the FFSMIS SAIL Record System for all contacts, assessments, and case management services.
  • Intervene in crisis situations using sound judgment and ethical practices.

Qualifications

  • Must reside within a 100-mile radius of a Navy installation in the assigned area.
  • Master's degree in Counseling, Social Work, Marriage and Family Therapy, or a Doctoral degree in clinical or counseling psychology, with relevant clinical internship experience.
  • Current, valid clinical license or certification for independent practice in relevant fields.
  • A minimum of two years of full-time, post-master's supervised clinical experience.
  • Experience providing case management to clinical clients and delivering clinical services via telehealth platforms.
  • Strong assessment skills related to suicidality and crisis management.
  • Ability to thrive in high-stress environments and work effectively with diverse populations.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and strong communication skills.
  • Must have a dedicated workspace suitable for telehealth services.

Preferred Skills

  • Understanding of the challenges associated with military life and community resources.
  • Experience providing short-term counseling within the military community.
  • Knowledge of clinical documentation standards and referral resources.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with Command Leadership.
