Position: Substance Use Disorder Counselor at Aurora Behavioral Healthcare San Diego

Are you dedicated to supporting individuals facing challenges related to substance use? At Aurora Behavioral Healthcare San Diego, we are seeking a Substance Use Disorder Counselor to contribute positively to the lives of those in need.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Evaluate patients' levels of substance use and any accompanying mental health concerns
  • Create and implement treatment strategies in partnership with a multidisciplinary team
  • Facilitate educational and therapeutic group sessions for individuals dealing with substance use and co-occurring mental health issues
  • Work closely with referral sources and relevant parties to track patients' progress
  • Assist in patients' discharge and aftercare planning
  • Engage in departmental meetings and support program development initiatives
  • Contribute to the improvement and maintenance of clinical services
  • Provide support to the Needs Assessment and Referral Department as necessary
  • Participate in professional development opportunities to enhance expertise and knowledge
Essential Skills:
  • Effectively conduct individual and group therapy sessions
  • Exhibit strong organizational, problem-solving, and time management skills
  • Proficient in treatment planning, documentation, and record-keeping
  • Capable of public speaking while maintaining ethical standards and confidentiality
  • Ability to establish and maintain therapeutic relationships with patients at various recovery stages
  • Demonstrate self-control in challenging circumstances
Qualifications:
  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Certification in CADC, SUDCC OR Current RADT, SUDRC
  • Experience working with individuals with substance use and co-occurring disorders is advantageous
