About the Team
Within the Novo Nordisk Foundation Center for Genomic Mechanisms of Disease, the Claussnitzer lab offers an exciting opportunity for a Research Scientist to join our Variant-to-Function (V2F) team. This team focuses on identifying genetic variants and elucidating gene regulatory networks that influence susceptibility to type 2 diabetes and related metabolic disorders.
The selected candidate will be pivotal in translating genetic insights into a deeper understanding of the molecular and cellular mechanisms of metabolic diseases, as well as identifying potential therapeutic targets. We are looking for a proactive and innovative individual with expertise in cellular metabolism to spearhead research initiatives aimed at understanding how genetic variants affect gene regulatory networks and cellular processes associated with common metabolic disorders.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and implement advanced functional genomics techniques and high-throughput screening methods to evaluate the effects of variants and genes on disease-relevant metabolic outcomes.
- Independently design, plan, and execute research projects while collaborating closely with a multidisciplinary team.
- Systematically document, analyze, and interpret experimental data.
- Actively participate in lab meetings, prepare reports, and present progress towards research objectives.
- Mentor and supervise junior lab members, contributing significantly to scientific publications, presentations, and grant proposals.
Qualifications
- PhD in molecular biology, cellular biology, or a related field.
- Self-motivated and innovative, with the ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a dynamic research environment.
- Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to foster effective working relationships.
- Proven ability to manage multiple tasks and adapt in a fast-paced, multidisciplinary setting.
- Exceptional organizational skills, attention to detail, and proficient lab notebook practices.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, along with strong analytical and critical thinking abilities.
- Required experience in mammalian cell culture, cell-based assay development, and molecular biology.
- Preferred experience with imaging techniques, genome editing, screening methodologies, and analysis of large datasets.
- Experience with primary adipocyte cells and relevant cell models is advantageous.
