Research Focus

Our lab is interested in understanding how bacteria adapt to their environment and respond to stress. We use a combination of experimental and computational approaches to study the evolution of bacterial genomes and the mechanisms of gene transfer. The postdoctoral researcher will have the opportunity to work on a range of projects, including the characterization of gene transfer agents and the development of new tools for bacterial genomics.

Responsibilities

  • Design and conduct experiments to study bacterial genetics and genomics
  • Analyze and interpret data from experiments and computational simulations
  • Develop and implement new methods for bacterial genomics and gene transfer
  • Collaborate with other researchers in the lab and at Harvard University
  • Present research findings at conferences and in publications

Requirements

  • Ph.D. in microbiology, molecular biology, or a related field
  • Experience with bacterial genetics and genomics, including cloning, genetics, and microscopy
  • Strong publication record in microbiology and molecular biology
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills
