Position Summary

The Chief Administrative Officer (CAO) is primarily responsible for overseeing the daily administrative functions of NRG Consulting Group. This includes, but is not limited to, human resources management, financial oversight, payroll administration, labor relations, and ensuring compliance with legal and regulatory standards.

This role demands a strategic and detail-oriented leader capable of collaborating with multiple departments to enhance operational efficiency. The CAO should exhibit outstanding organizational and communication abilities, thrive in a dynamic environment, adapt quickly to changing circumstances, and have a proven history of executing administrative strategies and initiatives.

Reporting Structure

Reports directly to the Managing Director.

Key Responsibilities

Organizational Leadership:

  • Oversee the daily administrative operations, ensuring effective workflows across the organization. Participate in strategic planning and goal-setting in conjunction with senior leadership.
  • Manage the operations of the headquarters and field offices, which includes office maintenance, communication services, and other support functions.

Human Resources and Labor Relations:

  • Lead the Human Resources department, including recruitment and supervision of staff and consultants.
  • Provide guidance on HR practices, including compliance with various state laws and regulations.
  • Develop and enforce organizational policies.
  • Ensure adherence to all personnel and benefits provisions outlined in collective bargaining agreements.
  • Act as a liaison for collective bargaining negotiations and manage labor contracts.

Financial Management:

  • Supervise accounting and bookkeeping activities, including staff management.
  • Collaborate with financial professionals to create departmental budgets, authorize expenditures, and maintain accurate financial records.

Regulatory Compliance:

  • Oversee compliance with charitable registrations, lobbying, campaign finance, and other governmental disclosure requirements.
  • Lead contract negotiations with vendors and manage all business agreements.
  • Perform additional duties as required.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 10 years of relevant experience in human resources, accounting, labor relations, or compliance.
  • Knowledge of lobbying and campaign finance regulations is essential.
  • Proven ability to analyze complex data and assess the implications of proposed initiatives.
  • Expertise in negotiating contracts for services and goods.
  • Capability to simplify complex organizational data for diverse audiences.
  • Exceptional organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise discretion.
  • Willingness to work flexible hours as needed.
  • Experience in managing teams within a collectively-bargained environment is preferred.
  • Field experience in advocacy or canvassing is a plus.
  • Experience with 501(c)(3), 501(c)(4), and 501(c)(5) organizations is advantageous.
