Position Overview:

Prosum is looking for a motivated and dynamic individual to fill the role of Civil Design Engineer in Southern California. The selected candidate will become part of the EDM Services engineering team, focusing on the design of industrial site development, pipeline enhancements, renewable energy systems, and oil and gas facility projects. A degree in Civil Engineering and a solid background in the design and execution of civil engineering projects, particularly with Civil 3D grading and drainage design, are essential. The ideal candidate will demonstrate the ability to work both independently and collaboratively, effectively communicating with clients, contractors, and other stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support the design and execution of civil engineering projects, including facility site development, drainage enhancements, roadways, access paths, and structural foundations.
  • Evaluate survey reports, maps, drawings, blueprints, aerial imagery, and other topographical or geological data to strategize project planning.
  • Manage, import, and create 3D surfaces from aerial and topographic site survey data using AutoCAD Civil 3D.
  • Engage in project planning and design with a focus on hydraulic and hydrology design.
  • Prepare engineering drawings, reports, proposals, and various written documents.
  • Conduct engineering calculations such as surcharge load and grade requirements, hydrology flow parameters, and pipeline hydraulics to establish design specifications.
  • Assist with construction and maintenance tasks at project sites.
  • Oversee relatively small projects.
  • Support Senior Project Engineers, Project Managers, and Principals in the execution of larger projects.
  • Prepare or oversee the preparation and modification of reports, specifications, plans, environmental and building permit applications, construction schedules, environmental impact studies, and project designs.
  • Guide draftspersons and technicians in converting designs into working drawings.

Qualifications:

  • Willingness and capability to acquire new skills and engage in multidisciplinary design projects.
  • Strong proficiency in CAD design tools (AutoCAD, Civil 3D).
  • General understanding of earthwork design, site drainage, and grading site development.
  • Ability to visit local project sites for data collection and construction support, with occasional travel to client facilities.

Experience and Educational Background:

  • Bachelor's Degree (or higher) in Civil Engineering.
  • 3-7 years of related experience.

Desirable: EIT certification with the intention to pursue the California PE exam.
