Position Overview:

Prosum is in search of a proactive and enthusiastic candidate for the role of Civil Design Engineer in Southern California. The selected individual will become part of the EDM Services engineering team, focusing on the design of industrial site development, pipeline enhancements, renewable energy systems, and oil and gas facility projects. A degree in Civil Engineering along with experience in civil engineering project design and construction, particularly with a strong command of Civil 3D for grading and drainage design, is essential. The ideal candidate will demonstrate the ability to work both independently and collaboratively, while effectively communicating with clients, contractors, and various stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support the design and construction of civil engineering projects, including facility site development, drainage enhancements, roadways, access routes, and structural foundations.
  • Evaluate survey reports, maps, drawings, blueprints, aerial imagery, and other topographical or geological data to strategize project plans.
  • Manage, import, and create 3D surfaces from aerial and topographic site survey data using AutoCAD Civil 3D.
  • Engage in project planning and design with a focus on hydraulic and hydrology design.
  • Prepare engineering drawings, reports, proposals, and other documentation as required.
  • Conduct engineering calculations, including surcharge load and grade requirements, hydrology flow parameters, and pipeline hydraulics to establish design specifications.
  • Assist with construction and maintenance tasks at project sites.
  • Oversee relatively small projects and assist Senior Project Engineers, Project Managers, and Principals in delivering larger initiatives.
  • Prepare or guide the preparation and modification of reports, specifications, plans, environmental and building permit applications, construction schedules, environmental impact assessments, and project designs.
  • Direct drafters and technicians in converting designs into working drawings.

Qualifications:

  • A strong desire and ability to acquire new skills and work on multidisciplinary design projects.
  • Solid working knowledge and proficiency in CAD design tools (AutoCAD, Civil 3D).
  • General understanding of earthwork design, site drainage, and grading for site development.
  • Willingness to visit local project sites for data collection and construction support, with occasional travel to client facilities.

Experience and Educational Background:

  • Bachelor's Degree (or higher) in Civil Engineering.
  • 3-7 years of related experience.

Certification as an Engineer-in-Training (EIT) is preferred, with the goal of taking the California Professional Engineer (PE) exam.
