Position Summary

The Senior Project Engineer plays a pivotal role in ensuring the successful delivery of technical project outcomes by collaborating with chief engineers, subsystem technical leads, engineering functional managers, and project managers. This position involves working closely with engineering teams throughout the phases of design, analysis, prototyping, integration, troubleshooting, and verification, while also supporting the transition of new products into production.

Key Responsibilities

  • Enhance product development methodologies by leveraging lessons learned and best practices, including modeling and simulation, design reviews, DFMEA, Six Sigma/lean product development, DFX, and customer feedback.
  • Facilitate cross-disciplinary teams through meetings and progress tracking to ensure timely and budget-compliant completion of specific projects.
  • Contribute to the development of subsystem specifications, characterization, and performance evaluations aligned with system requirements.
  • Engage in prototype builds and collaborate with key suppliers, contractors, and third-party design service providers.
  • Drive the creation of subsystem specifications and performance evaluations to meet system requirements.
  • Oversee daily technical project aspects, including cross-disciplinary decision-making, design reviews, defect tracking, engineering task management, issue resolution, and risk management.
  • Introduce innovative tools to enhance project engineering excellence.
  • Resolve a variety of issues through creative problem-solving.
  • Address diverse challenges requiring data analysis and evaluation of identifiable factors.
  • Typically operates with minimal supervision on routine tasks and receives general guidance on new assignments.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

Essential Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant engineering discipline or equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
  • A minimum of 5 to 8 years of relevant technical experience in product development.
  • Demonstrated experience with the complete product development lifecycle from concept to production, with a proven track record of successful product launches.
  • Proficient in executing product development methodologies and best practices.
  • Experience collaborating with integrated product teams.
  • Comprehensive technical knowledge to assess and evaluate design and development activities across engineering disciplines.
  • Strong organizational, facilitation, and negotiation skills.
  • Ability to analyze projects, decompose work into functional disciplines or subsystems, and formulate design/development plans.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Advanced technical degree is preferred.
  • Familiarity with the aerospace military/defense contracting environment is highly desirable.
  • Exhibits sound judgment in selecting methods and techniques for problem resolution.
  • Demonstrated ownership, accountability, and success in delivering products that meet requirements on schedule and within budget.
  • Able to thrive in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment, where small teams undertake a wide range of responsibilities.
  • Displays initiative and determination to achieve goals and meet organizational objectives.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to operate in both office and manufacturing environments (Constant).

Compensation

The salary range for this position is:

$102,708 - $145,530
