Position Overview: HR Generalist (Contract)

Role Summary

Under direct supervision, the Human Resources Generalist is responsible for managing the daily operations of the Human Resources department. This includes ensuring compliance, facilitating employee onboarding and offboarding, overseeing payroll, administering benefits, managing leave, and maintaining safety and workers' compensation protocols. The role also involves HR record keeping and fulfilling reporting requirements, all while embodying the principle that, "Everything is Important."

This position requires onsite presence in Torrance, CA, and proficiency in Spanish is preferred.


Key Responsibilities
  • Act as the primary contact for employees regarding benefits eligibility, enrollment, and resolving inquiries.
  • Implement policies and procedures, conduct audits, ensure compliance with employment laws, and suggest best practices.
  • Stay informed about trends, best practices, regulatory changes, and new technologies in human resources and employment law, providing recommendations for program enhancements.
  • Maintain the employee handbook and assist in developing personnel policies to foster a compliant and harmonious work environment.
  • Assist in drafting new employee job descriptions, creating offer letters, and managing incentive plans to ensure job descriptions are up-to-date.
  • Maintain and audit both electronic and paper records for accuracy and currency.
  • Coordinate payroll processing with Accounting and Finance to ensure timely and accurate payroll administration.
  • Oversee onboarding and offboarding processes, including orientation programs, ensuring timely and accurate documentation and payments.
  • Administer employee benefits programs, audit participation, manage renewals, and oversee open enrollment.
  • Prepare required reports on Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) and other special reports as needed.
  • Manage employee leave programs and coordinate claims related to the Americans with Disabilities Act and Unemployment benefits.
  • Administer the Workers' Compensation program, guiding claims through to resolution.
  • Support performance management initiatives, including employee reviews, disciplinary actions, terminations, and investigations.
  • Conduct exit interviews to identify trends and recommend improvements.
  • Assess training needs and develop training programs for employees and managers.
  • Ensure HR recordkeeping adheres to required standards.
  • Respond to inquiries from management, insurance, and regulatory bodies regarding compliance and reporting.
  • Edit and distribute employee newsletters and other communications.
  • Provide guidance to non-exempt HR staff.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Human Resources or a related field, or equivalent experience.

A minimum of four years of experience in human resource management.

Comprehensive knowledge of local, state, and federal employment laws and regulations.


Compensation

The starting salary range for this role is competitive and will be determined based on skills, experience, and relevant education or training. Please note that no benefits will be provided during the contract period.
