Job Summary:

In this role, you will work under general supervision to fabricate copper pipes, perform brazing, conduct system tests, charge refrigeration systems, and troubleshoot any issues that arise. This position involves a variety of electromechanical and mechanical assembly tasks to create intricate instruments. Responsibilities may include wiring, preparing, and installing cable harnesses.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Execute various assembly tasks utilizing knowledge of techniques, tools, materials, and equipment.
  • Adhere to safety protocols and utilize necessary safety equipment as per company policies.
  • Shape, bend, and cut copper tubing in accordance with design specifications using appropriate tools.
  • Clean and fabricate pipes with ultrasonic machines.
  • Perform brazing and assembly of refrigeration components using oxyacetylene methods.
  • Conduct leak checks on brazed assemblies using vacuum pumps and other detection tools.
  • Manage refrigerant reclamation and charging, ensuring compliance with environmental regulations.
  • Assemble electromechanical instruments or parts into subassemblies or complete units using hand and power tools.
  • Determine assembly methods and sequences based on available information or follow established guidelines.
  • Fit, align, calibrate, and adjust components to meet operational and quality standards.
  • Work from engineering documents and receive instructions from supervisors.
  • Perform quality inspections throughout the assembly process.
  • Maintain records of assembly progress and any encountered issues.
  • Provide feedback on safety and procedural deviations to supervisors.

Equipment Responsibility:

  • Maintain equipment through regular cleaning and lubrication.
  • Ensure proper setups to prevent damage during normal use.
  • Calibrate necessary tools and monitor hazardous waste disposal.

Additional Duties:

  • Continuously seek improvements in work processes.
  • Maintain organized and functional assembly areas.
  • Collaborate with peers and supervisors to enhance departmental operations.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Training in oxy-acetylene brazing is mandatory; welding certification is preferred.
  • 1-3 years of experience in brazing copper tubing for refrigeration systems.
  • 3-5 years of assembly experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Ability to interpret technical documents and follow schematics.
  • Proficiency in basic math and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to lift and move items weighing up to 50 lbs with assistance.

Working Conditions:

  • Ability to work safely with hazardous equipment and materials.
  • Frequent physical activity including lifting, standing, and reaching.
  • Exposure to high temperatures requires adherence to safety protocols.
