Position Overview:
The Senior Administrative Executive serves as the Chief Administrative Officer (CAO) for the Department of Astronomy and Astrophysics. This role is pivotal in providing strategic guidance and support to the department's leadership and faculty engaged in both research and educational programs.

Key Responsibilities:
1. **Leadership and Management:**
- Directs and oversees the administrative functions of the department, ensuring alignment with institutional goals.
- Acts as the principal advisor to the Department Chair and faculty, facilitating effective decision-making processes.

2. **Strategic Planning:**
- Develops and implements short- and long-term strategic plans, focusing on fiscal management and resource allocation.
- Evaluates departmental performance and identifies areas for improvement.

3. **Financial Oversight:**
- Manages departmental budgets, including contracts, grants, and other funding sources.
- Ensures compliance with financial regulations and reporting requirements.

4. **Human Resources Management:**
- Oversees academic and staff human resources functions, including recruitment, training, and performance evaluation.
- Maintains effective labor relations and promotes a positive workplace culture.

5. **Operational Excellence:**
- Coordinates administrative operations, including student affairs, health and safety, and risk management.
- Implements best practices in administrative computing and information systems.

Qualifications:
- Proven leadership experience in a complex academic environment.
- Strong understanding of budget management and financial analysis.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to engage effectively with diverse stakeholders.
- Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities and adapt to changing circumstances.

Work Environment:
This position operates in a hybrid model, requiring both on-campus and remote work. Flexibility in scheduling may be necessary to meet departmental needs.
