Position Overview

The role involves executing social service initiatives, which encompass gathering pertinent information, assessing client requirements, and devising and executing service strategies tailored to identified needs. This includes providing guidance to clients, ensuring effective communication with their families, and collaborating with service providers to address medical, social, financial, educational, housing, and related service requirements.

Key Responsibilities

Conduct interviews with clients to collect essential information, perform needs assessments, and formulate service or case plans along with actionable recommendations.

Act as a liaison among clients, their families, law enforcement, judicial systems, service providers, and community organizations to synchronize activities, develop preventive measures, and evaluate the effectiveness of the services delivered to fulfill client needs.

Maintain accurate case documentation in accordance with relevant regulations, policies, and procedures, ensuring timely reporting.

Provide individual, family, or group counseling sessions. Leverage community resources for follow-up on referrals and oversee service providers to ensure program compliance.

Assist colleagues by taking on additional responsibilities as necessary, such as administering medications, transporting clients to appointments, conducting intake assessments, and managing discharges.

Must be physically capable of executing 'handling with care' techniques, including restraining and pursuing youth as mandated by regulatory requirements.

Engage in team meetings to discuss client progress and share vital information necessary for addressing client needs. Perform additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Education and experience equivalent to a Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution in a legal, behavioral, or social sciences discipline, or a related field of study.

A minimum of one year of relevant work experience is required.

Essential Skills and Competencies

Proficient in standard software applications.

Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with colleagues, departments, and the public.

A valid Texas Driver's License with a clean driving record is mandatory.

Additional Requirements

This position necessitates the incumbent to become a Certified Juvenile Probation Officer within six months of employment. An extensive background check is required, along with mandatory drug testing prior to employment and random testing during employment.

  • This role involves working with juveniles who may exhibit aggressive behaviors; a high tolerance for an emotionally demanding work environment is essential.
  • Employees may be reassigned to different departments, shifts, locations, or facilities based on departmental needs.
  • Working in a 24-hour facility may require mandatory overtime or the possibility of working additional shifts.
  • The incumbent may be classified as 'essential personnel,' subject to being called back to work as needed.
  • Applicants must be at least 21 years of age and must successfully complete all components of the Juvenile Academy and adhere to standards related to PREA and Ethics.
Work Environment

The position is typically in a standard office setting, with the ability to travel to various work sites as necessary.

This role may also involve working within secured facilities and requires the capability to restrain and/or pursue youth.
