Key ResponsibilitiesConduct thorough interviews with clients to collect pertinent information, perform needs assessments, and develop comprehensive service or case plans along with actionable recommendations.
Act as a crucial liaison among clients, their families, law enforcement, judicial entities, service providers, and community organizations to coordinate services, implement prevention strategies, and evaluate the effectiveness of the support provided.
Maintain meticulous case documentation in accordance with relevant regulations, policies, and procedures, ensuring timely and accurate reporting.
Provide individual, family, or group counseling sessions and leverage community resources for follow-up on referrals while monitoring service provider compliance.
Assist in various duties as needed, such as administering medications, transporting clients to appointments, conducting intake assessments, and managing client behavior.
Participate actively in team meetings to discuss client progress and share vital information necessary for addressing client needs. Perform additional responsibilities as assigned.
QualificationsEducation and experience equivalent to a Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution in a legal, behavioral, or social sciences field, or a related area of study, along with a minimum of one year of relevant work experience.
Skills and CompetenciesProficient in standard software applications. Strong verbal and written communication skills are essential, along with the ability to foster effective working relationships with colleagues, departments, and the public.
A valid Texas Driver's License with a clean driving record is required.
Additional RequirementsThis position necessitates the successful completion of certification as a Juvenile Probation Officer within six months of employment. Candidates must pass a comprehensive background check and are subject to mandatory drug testing prior to employment, as well as random testing during their tenure.
- Must be prepared to work with juveniles who may exhibit challenging behaviors; a high tolerance for emotionally demanding situations is essential.
- Employees may be reassigned to different departments, shifts, locations, or facilities based on departmental needs.
- Working in a 24-hour facility may require mandatory overtime or extended shifts.
- Employees may be classified as 'essential personnel' and could be called back to work as needed.
- Applicants must be at least 21 years old and must successfully complete all components of the Juvenile Academy to maintain employment.
This role typically operates in a standard office setting, with the requirement to travel to various work sites as necessary.
Note: This position may be situated within a secured facility and may involve physical restraint or pursuit of youth when required.
